Trail Clearing

A local rider recently assisted me with identifying areas along the Cumberland Multiuse Trail where trees have come down and now block the trail. She also pointed out an area on the trail that may need to be rerouted due to year round wet conditions. I hope to get the trail cleared up as soon as possible and work on rerouting that small section. Vigilant users are already helping to make the state forests more enjoyable, thank you!

On a similar note, while the Department of Forestry does appreciate any and all trail work and help, please do not use chainsaws to clear the trails yourselves. This puts the VDOF in a sticky situation with OSHA and liability for injury. If you come across downed trees that need to be removed please make note of the location (a GPS point would be ideal) and let me know about it. This way we can not only make the state forests more enjoyable but safer as well.
