Outdoor roundup

A few outdoor related items for Monday morning:

* The Appalachian Trail Conservancy isn't doing too well in the online voting for the Chase Community Giving campaign. As of 9:00 a.m. this morning, they stand at 42nd in the voting to win a $1-million grant from Chase Bank. Voting for the grant ends on November 22nd - so there's still time to help this organization if you want to cast your vote.

* Trailspace.com posted an excellent article yesterday on winter hiking. The article offers detailed tips on staying warm and enjoying a hike during the winter months.

* A local Paducah, Kentucky TV station has a pretty good video posted on their website that highlights the Bald Eagle Watch Tours on Kentucky Lake in the Land-Between-The-Lakes area. The LBL is home to several bald eagles that live here year-round, however, their populations triple during the winter months when many birds migrate in from the north.
