The World's Best Hikes

Earlier in the week, Gadling.com, who touts themselves as the world's biggest travel blog and covers all aspects of travel from around the world, posted their list of the top 10 treks from around the world. The following are the hikes that made the list:

1) Mt Whitney, California
2) Salkantay Trek to the ancient Inca ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru.
3) Timberline Trail, Oregon
4) Everest Base Camp, Nepal
5) Appalachian Trail, North Carolina
6) Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
7) Zion Narrows, Utah
8) Haute Route, France/Switzerland
9) John Muir Trail, California
10) Cinque Terre, Italy

Meanwhile, closer to home, Backpacker Magazine just recently posted their Readers Choice Awards for the top trails in the Southeast. Here are the trails that made this list:
